Every sixth form student has been given an iPad – Gooderham PR

A new digital age of education has been launched at Felixstowe School after all sixth form students were given an iPad to aid their learning.

The initiative aligns with other sixth form campuses within the Unity Schools Partnership that have also equipped their students with iPads.

According to school leaders, this step will boost interactivity between students and staff and enhance classroom learning experiences.

Xavier Norte, director of sixth form at Felixstowe School, said: “We are proud that our sixth form is leading the way in using technology to provide high quality teaching and learning.

“We believe we are one of the first sixth forms in the local area to give all our students iPads – to use both in the classroom and at home.

“There are so many benefits for our students and our staff and everyone is very excited about this new development.”

Under the programme, all students in the current sixth form has been given an iPad – with Mr Norte confirming this will continue in future years as well.

Prospective students and families will be able to learn more at Felixstowe School’s sixth form open evening on Wednesday 23rd October.

Working with the Showbie educational app, interactive feedback – both verbal and digital – can be provided immediately while student work can be shared and discussed in the classroom.

Mr Norte added: “Staff and students have been really positive about the move and we hope this will break down any barriers by making digital learning available to all.”

The donations of iPads to all sixth form students has been mirrored at Haverhill Community Sixth Form and Thomas Gainsborough School, both of which are part of Unity Schools Partnership.
